Have you heard of the Highlander? It’s the train that the Steamranger Railway operates from Mount Barker to Strathalbyn – one of the most scenic parts of their railway.
We’ve taken the opportunity to create a new overnighter tour with the big feature of the trip being this delightful train journey. We start the trip by heading up to Mount Barker and boarding the train. The journey takes us through the beautiful section of the Adelaide Hills to Strathalbyn. On arrival in Strathalbyn, we enjoy lunch before taking the train back to Mount Barker in the afternoon. Our accommodation is at one of our favourites – the Mannum Motel.
(Please note – this train may be operated by either a steam locomotive or a heritage ‘red hen’ railcar).
Our second day on this tour includes a cruise on the Murray, a visit to the fabulous National Motor Museum at Birdwood, and even a stop for chocolate tasting in the Adelaide Hills!
This brand new tour promises to be something very special. The itinerary is ready to go, so to join us on May 24 and 25 just give us a call.
