Art & Craft at Strathalbyn
Fleurieu fun and beautiful creations
Strathalbyn has a reputation for being a very charming town. With its parks, the River Angus flowing through its heart, and a range of fascinating antiques stores in High Street, it has long been a favourite for Adelaideans looking for a day out. (Plus, both Dean and I were born in Strath, so it has that as well!)
Today we’re visiting Strathalbyn for another of its special features – arts and crafts. In the old Strath Train Station there is a delightful gallery – the Stationmaster Gallery. Operated by volunteers, this gallery has changing exhibitions, and does a fantastic job of supporting local and regional artists. This month the feature artist is the wonderful watercolourist, professional artist Brian Dobson. As well as Brian Dobson’s superb works there will be a range of pieces from other artists on display.
Following our time to enjoy the art, we head off down the road to Langhorne Creek and the Bridge Hotel – a great spot for a hearty, two-course lunch. We then return to Strathalbyn for a favourite of ours – the Community Craft Shop. Again, this store is run by volunteers and features a fabulous variety of goods from local and regional people – you’ll love it!
Come and enjoy a delightful day exploring hills scenery plus great art and craft!
