Lunch cruise + Spring Gully Foods
One of the great things about Adelaide is how quickly and easily we can access some very special places. One of those is the Port River. It’s an area full of nautical history, high-tech construction, industry, and also natural beauty. There are mangroves which thrive with tidal flows and salty water, plus the Port River’s most famous residents – the dolphins!
After our morning tea we board our vessel for a two-hour cruise of the Port River. During our cruise we enjoy a delicious two-course lunch. Hopefully we’ll be fortunate to see the wonderful dolphins – they are a regular feature of these waters but as they are wild creatures they don’t always turn up on cue.
On our return from the cruise we wander the short distance to Spring Gully Foods. Established in 1946 in Rostrevor by the Webb family, Spring Gully Foods has been famous for its pickles, jams and chutneys. In 2013 the business experienced a 60% drop in sales in a few short months and entered administration, but a huge swell of support from customers brought them back into a strong position. Spring Gully Foods now has a wonderful range and products, and we’re visiting their shop for the opportunity to purchase direct.
It all adds up to a great day out with lots of variety – don’t miss out!
