Explore the island at the end of the Murray.
This February we’re heading to the end of the Murray to explore the famous Hindmarsh Island.
Hindmarsh Island became (in)famous during the initial development of the marina there. With the proposal of a bridge replacing the ferry link to the island, lots of controversy erupted about secret Indigenous women’s business. Today Hindmarsh Island has its bridge, and also the largest inland marina in the southern hemisphere. It’s also the perfect spot to view the mouth of the Murray River.
We’re having a slightly earlier lunch today so that we can then have a good amount of time exploring the Island. We tour around the marina development, see some of the older residential areas of the Island, as well as visiting the viewing point for the mouth of the Murray.
It’s going to be a fun day visiting locations we don’t get to very often, so come along for a great day out.
