Tour Description

Back to Tailem Town

Step back in time

Cost: $135

Open to the public in 1987, Old Tailem Town has grown to house over 100 historic buildings in 15 streets!

The dream of Peter Squires on a property inherited from his grandfather, Tailem Town preserves history and shows what life
was like for South Australian Settlers from the mid 1800’s.

There is an old church which dates back to the 1900’s, a school and village town hall from the 1880’s, a hotel, many stores and houses, plus a variety of vehicles on display. You will have the opportunity to wander at your leisure or simply relax and take in the atmosphere of a day gone by.

We will continue into Tailem Bend to enjoy our two course meal at the Riverside Hotel. Located on the banks of the Murray, it will be relaxing to watch the river flow as we catch-up with friends over lunch, before heading back to Adelaide and enjoying the countryside in Spring.

Thanks so much for your wonderful list of day tour ideas that were collected on our August tours. We listened to your suggestions and are happy to offer one of the more popular ideas being a visit to Old Tailem Town. Given the distance we are travelling, this may be a slightly longer day than our regular tours.
