Discover the essence of Victoria with our Werribee & surrounds tour, which combines historical insights, artistic engagement, and close encounters with nature. Highlights include the Australasian Quilt Convention and the vibrant Werribee Open Range Zoo. Each day is designed to offer a blend of discovery and relaxation, with stays in comfortable accommodation and scenic drives through Victoria’s charming landscapes, ensuring a memorable experience.

Day One – TUESDAY 8 APRIL 2025

Day one of our adventure begins with chauffeur-driven pickups from home, before setting off and heading towards the scenic views of Tailem Bend. Here, we enjoy morning tea, and the opportunity to stretch our legs and prepare for the journey ahead.

We enjoy stunning views of the Coorong as we journey to Kingston SE, where lunch awaits us at the Crown Inn Hotel.

The afternoon takes us to Robe, where you’ll have the opportunity to explore the charming main street of this historic coastal town.

After soaking in the quaint atmosphere of Robe, we continue our journey south to Mount Gambier.

Upon arrival, we check into The Henty (08 7725 4100), where we will unwind and later enjoy a delightful dinner, reflecting on the day’s
journey and the experiences shared.

Day Two – WEDNESDAY 9 APRIL 2025

Our morning begins with a nourishing breakfast before farewelling our hosts in Mount Gambier.

We journey towards Hamilton for morning tea and a fascinating visit to the Sir Reginald Ansett Transport Museum, which celebrates the legacy of one of Australia’s aviation pioneers.

Post-lunch in Hamilton, we continue our scenic drive to Mortlake, enjoying the lush landscapes for which Victoria is renowned. We make a brief comfort stop in Inverleigh, perfect for stretching our legs and enjoying some fresh air.

The journey concludes as we check into the Holiday Inn Werribee (03) 8731 3030 which offers a contemporary and comfortable stay in the heart of one of Victoria’s charming suburbs. With modern amenities and stylish interiors, this accommodation is sure to be a highlight, and we can enjoy a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere here for the next three nights.

After settling in, we have time to freshen up before dinner at the hotel’s restaurant, where we can relax and share stories of our travel adventures.

Day Three – THURSDAY 10 APRIL 2025

After breakfast, we set off for a day rich with creativity and inspiration.

We journey to Melbourne where our morning begins with tea in the serene surroundings of the Carlton Gardens, a perfect setting to relax before the day’s main event.

We’ll spend the day at the Australasian Quilt Convention, the premier quilting event in the Southern Hemisphere, located in the Royal Exhibition Building, Melbourne. Here, you’ll immerse yourself in a world of intricate patterns, vibrant fabrics, and innovative designs. The convention is not just a showcase but also an interactive experience with free seminars, make-and-take sessions, and demonstrations taking place throughout the day, offering invaluable insights and hands-on experiences.

Following an enriching day of artistic exploration, we’ll return to the Holiday Inn Werribee. Here, you can unwind and freshen up before enjoying a delightful dinner at the hotel, reflecting on the day’s unique experiences and the beauty of the quilts we’ve seen.

Day Four – FRIDAY 11 APRIL 2025

After a delightful breakfast at our Werribee accommodation, we embark on an adventurous outing to the Werribee Open Range Zoo. Here we immerse ourselves in a unique wildlife experience, stepping into the heart of the African savannah right here in Australia. The zoo hosts a remarkable variety of animals from around the globe, including gorillas, zebras, giraffes, and rhinos, showcased in expansive habitats that replicate their natural environments.

A standout feature is our Safari Tour, which allows us to traverse these landscapes in an open vehicle, offering up-close encounters with the animals. Through this engaging journey, we gain valuable insights into the critical importance of wildlife conservation and the efforts needed to protect these magnificent species.

Lunch is conveniently served within the zoo, allowing us more time to explore and enjoy the exhibits without interruption.

In the afternoon, we’ll have some free time to explore the local area of Werribee, where we can discover its charming boutiques and cozy cafes.

Returning to the Holiday Inn Werribee later in the afternoon gives us the perfect chance to relax before concluding our day with a satisfying dinner at the hotel, reflecting on the adventures of the day.

Day Five – SATURDAY 12 APRIL 2025

We begin our morning with breakfast, before farewelling our hosts departing Werribee on a journey rich in history and scenic beauty.

Our first stop is in Ballarat, a town famed for its historical significance in the Victorian gold rush. Here, we take a leisurely morning tea break before visiting the Eureka Centre, where we delve into the pivotal moments of the 1854 Eureka Stockade—a significant historical event in the history of Australian democracy.

Lunch is served at the Beechworth Bakery in Ballarat, famous for its hearty, homemade treats and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

In the afternoon, we continue our travels to the Grampians National Park, making a comfort stop along the way to stretch and refresh. We then arrive at Boroka Lookout for breathtaking views of the Grampians’ rugged landscapes, providing a perfect photo opportunity.

We conclude our day at the Magdala Motor Inn (03) 5358 3877, where we can freshen up before enjoying a delightful dinner, reflecting on the day’s explorations.

Day Six – SUNDAY 13 APRIL 2025

We start the morning with breakfast at the Magdala Motor Inn, preparing us for the day’s journey back to Adelaide.

Our first pause is in Natimuk, a quaint town where we’ll enjoy morning tea and experience the local charm.

The tour continues with a drive past the impressive Mount Arapiles, a prominent feature in the landscape it is popular amongst climbers and known for its stunning views.

Midday brings a comfort stop in Kaniva, allowing a brief respite before we cross the border and proceed to the Keith Hotel for a fulfilling lunch.

The journey then takes us through Coonalpyn, known for its striking silo art, providing a visual treat as you pass by.

The final stretch includes a comfort stop at Tailem Bend, an ideal chance to stretch our legs before completing the journey.

We’ll arrive back in Adelaide in the late afternoon, bringing to a close a memorable tour filled with diverse experiences and artistic delights.
