Day One – WEDNESDAY 10 JULY 2024

Welcome to our three day adventure into the Barossa Valley. Transferred to the bus in our chauffeur-driven car, the luxury of our journey matches the grandeur of our first destination, the historic Anlaby Homestead. Our visit includes a guided tour, where we will discover into the rich history and architectural beauty of the house. To enhance our experience, we enjoy lunch at the homestead, served in an elegant setting that complements the charm of Anlaby. We will also have the opportunity to leisurely wander through Anlaby’s expansive gardens, which display a variety of exquisite plants and flowers, and visit the gift shop.

This afternoon we travel into the heart of the Barossa for a visit to Peter Lehmann Winery; renowned for its commitment to quality and its spirit of hospitality. During our visit, we will have the opportunity to explore the beautiful grounds and delve into the winery’s storied history. The highlight of the experience is a curated tasting session, where we sample a selection of their finest wines.

Before making our way to our accommodation, we make a final stop at the Maggie Beer Farm Shop. Here, you can immerse yourself in the culinary world of one of Australia’s most beloved food personalities. The visit offers a chance to taste and learn about Maggie Beer’s gourmet products, from her famous pâtés to seasonal preserves, all made with local ingredients. The shop also provides an opportunity to purchase these delectable items, perfect for bringing a taste of the Barossa home.

As dusk begins to paint the sky with shades of pink and gold, our day’s narrative finds its peaceful resolution at the Barossa Weintal Hotel (08) 8563 2303. This accommodation is nestled within the heart of the valley and offers not just a restful abode but a culinary journey in its own right. Here, we will gather for dinner, a harmonious blend of local produce and exquisite flavours, celebrating the day’s experiences.

Day Two – THURSDAY 11 JULY 2024

As the sun peeks over the Barossa, our second day unfolds with a sensory journey beginning at the Barossa Chocolate Factory where we can watch expert chocolatiers at work and sample their delicious creations. This stop offers a sweet insight into the craft of chocolate making, with the opportunity to participate in a chocolate tasting.

Our journey then leads us through the verdant embrace of Gully Gardens. Among the orchards, we taste the bounty of the land, where every fruit is a sun-kissed gift from nature, reminding us of the simple joys that the earth offers. We enjoy a delightful morning tea here where the peaceful orchard setting provides a perfect backdrop for sipping tea and sampling fresh local produce.

Before lunch, we enjoy some leisurely free time wandering down Angaston’s Main Street, discovering quaint shops and cozy cafes, each offering a unique glimpse into the heart of this vibrant community.

Noon finds us at the Wanera Wine Bar, where the festive spirit of “Christmas in July” awaits. Here, tradition and innovation are served on a plate, accompanied by glasses of the finest local wine or beer. The meal invites us to indulge in the celebration of the season.

The day’s journey culminates at the Barossa Cheese Company, where the art of cheese making unfolds.

After such a lavish lunch, our evening plans are set for a lighter affair. After the opportunity to freshen up or relax in our rooms, we gather for
dinner at the Barossa Weintal Hotel, where a lighter meal awaits.

Day Three – FRIDAY 12 JULY 2024

After our final breakfast on tour, we will spend the morning at the Jam Factory at Seppeltsfield, nestled in the historic Seppeltsfield estate. Here, visitors are treated to an impressive display of skills from resident artisans specializing in disciplines such as glass blowing, ceramics, and metalwork. Our exploration continues at Vasse Virgin, where the art of natural skincare comes to life. This location prides itself on crafting high-quality olive oil-based products, each carefully formulated to combine traditional practices with the purity of natural ingredients.

By midday, the Tanunda Hotel welcomes us with open arms for a farewell two course lunch.

The afternoon gently nudges us towards leisurely explorations down Tanunda’s Main Street. Here, amid the charm of local shops and cafes, we find the perfect setting for tranquil wanderings, a last chance to soak in the spirit of the valley.

As the sun sets on our Barossa escape, we journey back to Adelaide. We depart with our spirits enriched, carrying memories of a Christmas in July that danced with the flavours, crafts, and camaraderie of the Barossa, each moment a thread in the tapestry of stories we’ll cherish and recount.
